Mountsberg Workshop Friday Jan 22Nd, 2010

Thanks to all my guests! We sure had a good time shooting (lets not talk about the wind in the morning!!)

Amy Fennell did a great job presenting the birds at the Raptor Center, near Campbellville Ontario, Canada. We started with the Barn Owl on a high fence post, and later move to a lower more protected area, to get out of the wind.

The snow and ice on the ground help with the nice light on an overcast day. My friends Megan Lorenz, Russ Campbell, and Leigh Beird joined me for yet another of many workshops that they both have attended. Another participant ... a wonderful gentleman named Peter Bisset. Peter was kind enough to bring several perches and they all proved to be very useful. Peter has won over 620 awards in PSA competitions and is very much involved in serious nature photography.

It was interesting to watch Peter using a Hasselblad camera, macro lens, and slide film! I hope we can find a way to see his images some day.

Greg Lederman joined us all the way from Michigan!! thanks Greg, great to shoot with you again. Thanks to Stu Dewalle and his grand daughter Sarah! ... I hope you guys had fun, and caught some nice images.

Sunday the 17Th of January, @ Muskoka!

Fun was the word for the day, my friends and new customers had such a good time in difficult lighting conditions! Here I am more then a week later, and finally getting some editing done. it has been a crazy week, 2 more workshops this past weekend with a total of 18 guests at Mountsberg.

I am sure not complaining, it was a lot of fun and great people enjoying these captive birds and animals. Also, my birthday was last week to add to the fun (confusion!), turning 51 is tough!! Special thanks to my bro Geoff, and sis in law Jean for a fun night out Friday, and another wonderful night Saturday with my buddy Amol, and his wife Mayura.

So, back to the report from last Sunday, a few edits of shots with my guests, and the special subjects we were photographing. Thanks to everyone who joined us last weekend, we hope to do a few more Muskoka's soon, so please email me if your interested. ray@raymondbarlow.com

Have a good week.

We had a really fun weekend both Saturday and Sunday up north of Orillia, at the wildlife center., Dale and his crew really did another excellent job of helping my guests with great information and awesome angles to photograph the animals and birds.

We had the Saw-whet Owl out on Saturday, and also the Great Horned Owl out on Sunday. Here are a few of my images from Saturday, more coming form the Sunday shoot as soon as I can get them edited. Special thanks to Amol Khedgikar for joining us on this recent venture.

A weekend with Gary Prestash!

It is great fun when a friend comes from almost 500 miles away to spend some time photographing wildlife, and Gary, from the New Haven Connecticut area spent 3 days here trying to catch up with some birds, and owls. We had a good time, Don Leslie joined us for a day up in Brighton, and we were rewarded for our efforts!

Thanks to both of you guys for supporting my business, and hope to see you soon!

Here are some images from Gary... I hope Don will send me a few soon!

Another shot from Garys visit in the fall.

Great Horned puts on a Show!

The last opportunity to photograph a cool species on Sunday was this beauiful GHO. Dale explained to us that the owl appeared to have been stung by a bee in the eye, so you can see here that the bad eye was recovered in photoshop. We set up the bird on a few different perches, and had some fun before it was time to go home.

Muskoka Blizzard!! Jan 3Rd, 2010

What a way to bring in the new year... 2 workshops at Muskoka, in unreal cold conditions, 10 guests in total and not one complaint about the cold! amazing!!

After Saturday's program I figured I might not have everyone come up Sunday, the weather report was not great, and +3F!!! But, everyone was there, dressed for the worst conditions... cameras ready, and out into the cold we went.

The wolves were our first stop, then the adult cougar, ... Lynx, and Bobcat with one eye!! and then the Lynx Kitten, which is always so entertaining. I have hundreds of images to pick through, and I will get a few of them posted here very soon.

I hope to have a few images from my guests in the next post, so we can see how much fun everyone had here with our host Dale Gienow. Dale has been involved with animals and raptors for more then 25 years, and is considered an expert in the field.

We have another date scheduled for January 16Th, 2010, and please note the fee has been raised to $230.00 for any future dates.

For more info on the upcoming workshops... email me here... ray@raymondbarlow.com

take good care, and please respect our wildlife.
