Gone Loony!!

Is that common?? Yes!! the Common Loon. This past holiday Monday, I hosted a "scouting" workshop and 3 good costumers joined me for the ride to Bobcaygeon, Ontario for a true adventure.

My friend Carmelo told me of this friend who has cottages, and a pontoon boat, and loons on the lake, all the necessary pieces of the puzzle for some awesome shooting! Georgino, Paul and Nancy fired hundreds of frames at these beautiful birds, and we were on our way back from Sturgeon Lake at 7 pm Monday night., thanks to you guys for a great time!

A new workshop program has been created with several dates in the near future. Please click here for details!

Also, coming up, the Birds in Flight on June 19Th, and Costa Rica for early January.

if you have any questions, please email me!! ray@raymondbarlow.com

Costa Rica January 2011

Take the awesome 10 day tour to beautiful and photogenic Costa Rica

(Please click on the images to enlarge them)

Partnered with Greg Basco, a full time tour operator in Costa Rica, I am hosting my first 10 day workshop trek to this beautiful and amazing location. Full details of the trip are here .. Click on this web link to my workshop page.

I do have some experience in Costa Rica, fortunately we really had a fantastic trip back in December 2006. We stayed at a resort near Coco Beach, and toured many locations in this area. This trip happened while I was just getting acquainted with my 200-400 VR, and it sure was some interesting shooting!

I am very sure the memory cards will be at their daily capacity on this trip, as you will see the locations and photography opportunities will be astounding. the cool thing about this plan, and we have gear the entire excursion to the nature and wildlife photographer. When we need time to "get that shot", we sure will make time.

I am really looking forward to helping everyone get their best possible images, and help all photographers with the skills and techniques needed for superb imaging of natural subjects.

Thanks for taking the time to read this short promo!!

take care.

Songbirds Workshops, "One on One!"

This has been good fun! I started doing these "one on one" programs a little over a month ago, and the response has been good! With this type of workshop, we are able to review our guests skill level, and take them up from there!

it is more personal, and much more effective then a group workshop. I personally find it great fun because my guests are always very eager to learn... some even have a list of questions when we get started in the morning!!

We meet before sunrise usually, and trek to a particularly good location for the birds that will make the best subjects. We bring all of our equipment, tripods, flash, etc, and spend the day teaching equipment benefits, settings, support methods, and most importantly, wildlife skills, with photography techniques.

Good nature photography is all about knowledge, and experience. I have worked on these skills almost every day for 5 years now, so I have a lot to share.

Please email me if you have any interest in such a program!!
